2.3.8. Suspension bracket and steering check

1. Put the car on a manual brake, lift a forward part of the car and establish on supports.
2. Examine rubber covers of spherical hinges and covers of the steering mechanism, check up presence on them of cracks, anguishes and deterioration. Any damages on these details lead to greasing loss, dirt and water hit that leads to the accelerated deterioration of hinges and details of the steering mechanism.
3. On cars with the hydraulic booster check up a condition of hoses of a hydrodrive of a wheel, presence on them of ageing and deterioration traces, check up also tightness of all tubes and hoses in junctions with unions. Also check up presence of leak of a liquid under pressure from under rubber covers of the steering mechanism. Leak traces specify in failure of epiploons of steering transfer.
4. Shake a wheel in a vertical plane, undertaken the top and bottom edges. Hardly notable moving of a wheel, however, if люфт appreciable it is necessary to find the reason is supposed. Ask the assistant to press a pedal of a brake and again shake a wheel in a vertical plane.
5. If люфт will disappear, or considerably will decrease, its reason is failure of bearings of naves. If люфт at rocking of a wheel during pressing a brake changes poorly spherical hinges of a suspension bracket, or details of fastening of levers of a suspension bracket to a body are worn out.
6. Shake a wheel in a horizontal plane. Any notable люфт in this plane can be caused deterioration of bearings of a nave or tips of steering draughts. At deterioration of internal or external tips it will be observed appreciable люфт wheels.
7. For check of deterioration of plugs of a forward suspension bracket shake a detail, in which запрессована the plug, the big screw-driver or mount. It is supposed small люфт owing to elasticity of rubber. Considerable люфт in plugs it will be swept easily up. Check up also a condition of all visible rubber plugs, presence on them of cracks, stratification or rubber swelling.
8. Lower the car and ask the assistant to turn a wheel in both parties on the one eighth turn. Люфт a wheel should be absent in general, we will admit also hardly appreciable люфт. Otherwise carefully check up all шарнирные suspension bracket connections, besides, check up deterioration карданного the hinge of a steering column, and also deterioration of details of steering transfer.

Check of amortisation racks of a forward suspension bracket

1. Check up presence of traces of leak of a liquid on the case of an amortisation rack, or on edges of a rubber cover of a rod. Any traces of a leak specify in internal defects of a rack and necessity of replacement of this knot.

The prevention

Suspension bracket racks should be replaced only in steam (on right and a left-hand side).

2. Serviceability of shock-absorbers of racks can be checked up sharply having pressed a forward part of a wing of the car. After отпускания the body should come back in former position, without making fluctuations.
3. Weak fluctuations of a body after pressing specify in possible malfunction of racks. Check up deterioration of the top and bottom fastening of racks.
