Before installation on the shaded sites of the left cover of a cam-shaft of final valves put hermetic.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the ignition distributor.
2. Remove asterisks of cam-shafts.
3. Covers of forward and back basic necks of a cam-shaft differ from covers of other basic necks. On cars of late releases in the top part of covers identification symbols (for a cam-shaft of final valves E2, Е5, inlet valves – I2, I5) are cast. On cars of early releases of number on covers of basic necks of cam-shafts can be absent, therefore, before their removal it is necessary to put labels which should specify a serial number and cover orientation.
4. Ослабьте an inhaling of bolts of fastening of covers of basic necks of cam-shafts, working in sequence, return specified on the scheme. Weaken an inhaling of bolts in stages, on one turn for reception. After that full отпускания springs bolts can be turned out definitively. At first remove forward and back covers, then – covers of a cam-shaft of final valves. Covers of a cam-shaft of inlet valves remove in last turn.
5. Get cam-shafts.
6. Spread out pushers and adjusting washers in the separate numbered packages.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Examine working surfaces in covers and in a head of cylinders. Check up presence задиров and traces of deep development. Check up presence on cams of cam-shafts of traces выкрашивания metal (sites of a bluish shade), deep development, having chopped off, formed owing to deterioration.
2. Check up palpation in an average neck of a cam-shaft. If palpation exceeds norm a cam-shaft replace.
3. By a micrometer measure the sizes of each of cams of cam-shafts and compare to the standard. In case of the raised deterioration or at damages a cam-shaft replace.
4. Check up a backlash in basic necks of a cam-shaft. It can be made in two ways, – or direct measurement, or by means of plastic calibre.
5. At backlash measurement by a direct method establish covers of basic necks of cam-shafts in a head of cylinders, observing former their order and orientation. Tighten bolts of covers with the set moment, in sequence specified on the scheme.
6. Measure internal diameter of basic surfaces of covers and compare to the standard. If internal diameter in any cover exceeds limiting a head of cylinders replace. The backlash can be defined as a difference of internal diameter of an aperture under a neck at the established cover and diameter of a basic neck of a cam-shaft.
7. At measurement of a backlash by means of plastic calibre clear both cam-shafts and basic surfaces of necks in a head of cylinders and in covers. Lay cam-shafts in a head of cylinders.
8. Lay pieces plastic калибровочной a wire along basic surfaces of necks of cam-shafts in parallel their axis, having taken the measures excluding turn of cam-shafts, establish cam-shafts and tighten covers (see more low).
9. Turn away bolts of fastening of covers and cautiously get covers, without supposing turn of cam-shafts.
10. Compare the greatest width of the crushed wire from each neck to a scale on calibre packing.
11. Compare result of measurement to the standard. If the backlash exceeds norm measure by a micrometer diameter of a neck of a cam-shaft. If diameter less maximum permissible replace a cam-shaft and again check up backlashes in basic necks. If a backlash still above norm replace a head of cylinders and a cover of basic necks.
12. Check up presence of signs of deterioration on pushers and internal surfaces of a head of cylinders. If there are necessary measuring devices deterioration degree can be estimated on a difference of diameters of a pusher and an aperture in a head of cylinders. Compare the received backlash with specified in subsection 3.1.1.1. If necessary worn out details replace.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Plentifully grease pushers and apertures under pushers in a head of cylinders. Cautiously insert pushers, without breaking an initial order of their installation. At installation the pusher should be entered into an aperture without a warp. Insert into pushers adjusting washers, be convinced of correctness of their installation, then plentifully grease basic necks and cams of cam-shafts.
2. Establish cam-shafts. The cam-shaft of final valves is easy for distinguishing on шлицам for a drive of the distributor of ignition from a left edge.
3. Be convinced that the groove on a pulley коленвала is combined with the index on a forward cover. Сориентируйте cam-shafts so that cams of 1st cylinder have been turned aside from corresponding valves. At correct position of cam-shafts the adjusting pin of an asterisk of a cam-shaft of inlet valves in its forward part should be directed at 9 o'clock (if to look from the right part of the engine), and the adjusting pin of a cam-shaft of final valves should be in the top vertical position (at 12 o'clock).
4. Be convinced of absolute cleanliness of contact surfaces of covers of basic necks and beds of a head of cylinders, absence on these surfaces of scratches and oil traces. Apply a thin film hermetic on contact surfaces of an extreme left cover of a basic neck of a cam-shaft of final valves.
5. Establish covers of basic necks, being guided on the labels put at removal (or available).
6. Tighten bolts of fastening of covers in sequence specified on the scheme. Tighten bolts in regular intervals, gradually increasing effort, wrapping bolts on a turn at one time, until then while covers will not adjoin to a head of cylinders. Then tighten bolts with the set moment. An inhaling carry out only in that order to provide uniform and gradual increase of effort from outside springs of valves on covers of basic necks.
7. Establish asterisks of cam-shafts.

The prevention

If the head of cylinders and cam-shafts were exposed to major repairs before installation of a cover of a head of cylinders check up backlashes in valves on the cold engine.


8. Establish the ignition distributor.
9. Check up backlashes in valves.
