3.1.1.7. Chains of a drive of cam-shafts


The prevention

The mechanism of a drive of cam-shafts in engines of early releases differs presence of a horizontal directing lath and успокоителя the top chain which in engines of late releases are absent.


Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Establish the piston of 1st cylinder in ВМТ a compression step.
2. Uncover heads of cylinders.
3. Remove a forward cover (subsection 3.1.1.6 see).
4. On cars of early releases turn away bolts and remove directing laths of the top chain.
5. Hook a hook on a boot натяжителя and take away from the top chain, fix a boot in this position. Turn away two bolts and remove a boot натяжителя.
6. On engines of later releases take away a boot натяжителя from the top chain and fix, having laid пруток. Turn away two bolts and remove a boot.
7. Keeping a cam-shaft a key for лыски in a forward part, turn away bolts of fastening of asterisks of cam-shafts.
8. Get bolts together with washers.
9. Deduce from gearing with a chain both asterisks of cam-shafts and, manipulating, remove asterisks.
10. Deduce the top chain from gearing with an intermediate asterisk and manipulating, get from a head of cylinders.
11. Turn away an axis bolt натяжителя the bottom chain and remove a boot.
12. Turn away a bolt of an intermediate asterisk, remove a bolt together with a washer, get an asterisk and the platen.
13. Remove the bottom chain from a leading asterisk коленвала and get from the engine.
14. Remove from a sock коленвала a leading asterisk and шпонку (if ослабла), store шпонку together with an asterisk.

The prevention

At removal of chains of a drive of cam-shafts rotation коленвала is not supposed.


Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check up presence on leading, conducted and intermediate asterisks of signs of deterioration and such defects as сколы, крючковатость or absence of teeths. At detection of any of the listed signs of deterioration and damages all asterisks, and also both chains it is necessary to replace. Chains and asterisks vary in the complete set.
2. Examine chain links, check up deterioration of rollers. Degree of deterioration of a chain can be defined on a deflection in a horizontal plane. In a new chain the deflection almost is absent. If in links of chains is available appreciable lateral люфт both chains it is necessary to replace.
3. Keep in mind that also it is necessary to replace a chain irrespective of presence of external signs of deterioration after considerable run or if on the working engine appreciable noise from outside chains is listened. Insistently it is recommended to change a chain in the complete set with asterisks. Otherwise, if the new chain is established on the worn out asterisks, deterioration of a new chain amplifies. If the condition of chains and asterisks casts doubts address for the qualified consultation in car-care centre Nissan service.
4. Check up presence of signs of deterioration or damages on натяжителях and успокоителях chains. At detection of defects replace these details (with a photo – натяжитель chains with deterioration signs).
5. Check up колодку a boot натяжителя the top chain, be convinced that плунжер натяжителя freely moves in a boot. Check up a spring condition натяжителя, having compared it to the new. At detection of damages or deterioration колодки a boot, or at a doubtful condition of a spring, натяжитель it is necessary to replace.

Installation

The top chain, distinctive links and adjusting labels

1. A label on an asterisk of a cam-shaft of inlet valves and a corresponding link of a chain

2. A label on an asterisk of a cam-shaft of final valves and a corresponding link of a chain

3. A label on an intermediate asterisk and a corresponding link of a chain

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Be convinced that the piston of 1st cylinder is in ВМТ a compression step (a flute under шпонку on a sock коленвала should be turned vertically upwards if to look on the right side of the engine). Insert шпонку into a flute on a sock коленвала (on an arrow).
2. Сориентируйте a leading asterisk so that the adjusting label has been directed aside from коленвала, combine a flute in an asterisk with шпонкой and dress an asterisk on a sock коленвала.
3. Slightly grease the platen of an intermediate asterisk with fresh oil for the engine and dress an asterisk on the platen so that the flange валикабыл is turned towards the block of cylinders. Enter an intermediate asterisk into gearing with the bottom chain, having combined an external adjusting label with one of links of a chain of silvery colour.
4. Establish a chain together with an intermediate asterisk into place so that the second link with distinctive colouring has coincided with an adjusting label on a leading asterisk коленвала. The adjusting label looks like a small groove on a nave of a leading asterisk (it is specified by an arrow).
5. Be convinced that labels (are specified by arrows) on intermediate and leading asterisks are combined with links of a chain of silvery colour.
6. Wrap a bolt with a washer of an intermediate asterisk and tighten with the set moment.
7. On the top chain of a drive is available three links with the distinctive colouring, each of these links corresponds to an adjusting label on each of the asterisks covered by a chain. Links with different colour are located through different intervals. On engines of early releases all three links have silvery colouring. The first painted link (which should coincide with a label on an asterisk of a cam-shaft of inlet valves) will defend from the second painted link (which coincides with a label on an asterisk of a cam-shaft of final valves) on 16 rollers, and the third painted link will defend from the first on 22 rollers (see fig. the Top chain, distinctive links and adjusting labels).
8. On engines of late releases intervals between the painted links of the top chain are identical, and the link corresponding to an adjusting label of an intermediate asterisk has golden colour (other links have silvery colour and should be combined with labels of conducted asterisks of cam-shafts).
9. Taking into account item 7, establish into place the top chain so, the painted links have been turned outside. Dress a chain on an intermediate asterisk, having combined a corresponding link with a label (it is specified by an arrow) on an asterisk.
10. Establish asterisks of cam-shafts adjusting labels outside (both conducted asterisks are identical). Dress a chain so that links of silvery colour were combined with adjusting labels. Be convinced that all links of the top chain different by colour are precisely combined on the centre with corresponding labels on asterisks (marksman).
11. Сориентируйте asterisks on cam-shafts, having combined grooves with adjusting pins. Be once again convinced that all painted links of the top chain are combined with corresponding labels on asterisks (marksman). If combination is broken, deduce asterisks from gearing with a chain and achieve combination.
12. Tighten bolts of asterisks with the set moment.
13. Establish a boot натяжителя the bottom chain and tighten a bolt of an axis of a boot with the set moment.
14. On engines of early releases establish on a head of cylinders a lath of the terminator of the top chain and tighten bolts of a lath with the set moment. Establish натяжитель the top chain on a head of cylinders, preliminary having wrung out it and having fixed in such position by a hook. Tighten bolts натяжителя with the set moment then remove a hook. Be convinced that колодка a boot натяжителя with force has rested against a chain.
15. On engines of late releases take aside колодку натяжителя and keep in such position прутком. Establish натяжитель on a head of cylinders and tighten bolts of fastening with the set moment. Clean пруток and be convinced that колодка a boot натяжителя with force has rested against a chain.
16. Establish a cover of a head of cylinders.
17. Establish a cover of a chain drive of cam-shafts.
