PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before check rods and pistons it is necessary to clear and remove old rings from the piston.
2. Cautiously move apart a ring, having displaced on the top part of the piston. That at removal the ring has not got to an empty flute, lay under a ring two-three old щупа.
3. At removal of rings do not damage a surface of pistons sharp edges. Rings very fragile and at excessive cultivation in a joint can break. Besides, protect fingers not to be cut about ring edges. Rings remove only through the top part of the piston. If old rings store the removed rings together with the piston from which have been removed are established.
4. Соскребите a deposit from the bottoms of pistons. After removal of the top rough layer of a deposit clean the bottom of the piston a wire brush manually (or an emery paper on a basis made of cloth).
5. Remove a deposit from flutes of pistons by means of the old broken piston ring. For this purpose break an old ring half-and-half (being careful thus of sharp edges). Remove only a deposit, to delete metal it is impossible. At clearing do not scratch a wall of flutes.
6. After deposit removal wash out the piston in gathering with a rod in kerosene or in solvent, carefully dry. Be convinced of cleanliness of grooves for an oil drain in flutes under piston rings.
7. Measure by a micrometer diameter of the piston of perpendicularly axis of a piston finger (on the set distance from edge of a skirt of the piston) and compare result to the value specified in subsection 3.2.1.1). The dimensional group of the piston is stamped on its bottom. If deterioration of the piston exceeds maximum permissible the piston is subject to replacement.
8. Check up a backlash between a piston ring and a wall of a flute of the piston. For this purpose insert a ring from lateral aspect into a corresponding flute and щупом measure a backlash between the top surface of a ring and a flute wall. Even if at a new ring the backlash exceeds norm the piston replace.
9. Check up a backlash in a joint of piston rings for what insert a ring into the corresponding cylinder and push the piston bottom to exclude a ring warp at measurement. Push a ring on such depth on which the edge of a skirt of the piston will be made even to a demountable plane of the block of cylinders then get the piston. Measure a backlash щупом. 12. Corrosion of the piston in the form of small poles (питтинга) testifies to penetration into the combustion chamber (and also in картер коленвала) a cooling liquid. Here again it is required to find the reason and to eliminate, otherwise corrosion will be shown on the repaired engine.
13. Carefully check up presence of such damages on rods, as cracks on heads about piston fingers and in installation sites шатунных bearings. Whether check up there is a deformation of a body of a rod (перекручивание or a bend). Damage of rods is improbable and is shown only in cases of jamming of the engine or a strong overheat. Careful check of rods can be executed only in a workshop of car-care centre of the dealer, or in a specialised workshop where there is a necessary equipment.
14. If necessary the piston can be removed from a rod and to collect with a rod as follows: a screw-driver with a flat edge remove lock rings of a piston finger and push out a piston finger, if necessary rest the piston and beat out a finger hammer blows on the puncher. Thus do not damage an aperture in the piston and a rod under a piston finger.

15. Extraction of a piston finger is considerably facilitated, if the piston preliminary to heat up to temperature 60–70 S.Okunite the piston in hot water, get and squeeze out a piston finger, thus be careful to avoid wounds.
16. Put labels on the piston, a rod and a finger that at subsequently to gather all details. Lock rings replace without fail.
17. Check up presence on a piston finger and an aperture in a head of a rod of signs of deterioration or damages. If there is a necessary measuring tool it is possible to define a finger backlash in the piston and in a rod by means of direct measurements of diameters of a finger and an aperture.
18. If the plug of a head of a rod and a piston finger are worn strongly out, or if the finger backlash in a rod head exceeds norm it is necessary to replace a finger and the plug. Replacement of plugs of heads of rods should be carried out in a workshop as will be necessary a press for their extraction and development new запрессованных plugs.
19. If the backlash between the piston and a finger considerably exceeds norm it is necessary to replace the piston and a finger in the complete set. Keep in mind that the backlash between the piston and a finger does not play so essential role as a backlash in a rod head as the finger is fixed lock by rings.
20. Rods in itself replacements do not demand, except for cases of jamming of the engine, or other serious breakages. Check up a condition of rods survey, at detection of deformation of rods hand over them in a workshop of car-care centre for check and repair by the skilled expert.
21. Check up a condition of all details, if necessary get new, having addressed in service of car-care centre of the dealer.
22. Сориентируйте the piston and a rod so that the label on a part of the piston which should be turned towards a forward part of the engine (in the form of an arrow or line) correctly settled down concerning a lubricant aperture in a rod body (fig. Correct mutual orientation of the piston and a rod see). At correct mutual orientation the label on the piston should be turned towards a mechanism chain timing, and the lubricant aperture in a rod body should be turned towards a back part of the block of cylinders.
23. Slightly grease a piston finger with fresh oil for the engine, insert a piston finger into apertures in the piston and in a rod head.

The prevention

To facilitate installation of a piston finger, the piston is recommended to be heated up.


24. If necessary besiege a finger into place easy blows of a hammer on the puncher, preliminary having fixed the piston.
25. Check up freedom of rotation of a finger in piston lugs, then establish lock rings. Be convinced that lock rings have come into flutes near to apertures under a piston finger.
